Come to BiCon 2024!

Booking in advance means you get a cheaper price and we have a better idea how many people are coming. If three hundred people turn up on the day and we've arranged rooms expecting half that number, things will get a bit crowded.

Sliding scale

BiCon tickets are priced according to people's ability to pay (a 'sliding scale'). We recognise that people experience different costs and what can matter most is how much is left once basic needs (things like food, housing, and clothing) are covered.

Read the descriptions below and see which one fits your position the best. (It probably won't be an exact fit: just pick what feels right for your situation. We're not going to ask you to prove it.)

Our breakeven price is around £29 per person attending for the whole weekend.

If we look like making a surplus, we'll spend more on things like making the Saturday evening party even better and/or booking more rooms at the venue if we need more space.

Band 1:

"I often stress about meeting basic needs and don't always achieve them. I have debt, and it sometimes stops me from meeting my basic needs. I have unstable housing. I sometimes can't afford public or private transport. I have no access to savings. If I have a job, I do not have the ability to take time off without financial problems."

Price: £15 for the weekend, or £10 for a day pass.

Band 2:

.. somewhere between that and ..

Price: £20 for the weekend, or £15 for a day pass.

Band 3:

"I may stress about meeting my basic needs, but I still regularly achieve them. I may have some debt, but it does not stop me from meeting my basic needs. I can afford public transport and often private transport like taxis or I have access to a car and can afford to run it. I am employed or self-employed or have enough pension. I have some financial savings. I can take a holiday every year or so without financial problems."

Price: £25 for the weekend, or £18 for a day pass.

Band 4:

"I am able to meet my basic needs. I may have some debt, but that's OK. I rent a property or own my home. I can afford public and private transport or I have access to a car and can afford to run it. I am employed or self employed or have a good pension. I have some financial savings. I can take a holiday every year without financial problems."

Price: £30 for the weekend, or £21 for a day pass.

Band 5:

.. somewhere between that and ..

Price: £35 for the weekend, or £24 for a day pass.

Band 6:

"I am comfortably off and able to meet all of my basic needs. If I have any debt, I have no worries about paying it. I own my home, or I rent a higher-end property. I own or lease a car, and I can always afford public and private transport. I am employed, or do not need to work to meet my needs. I have access to financial savings. I can afford holidays or to take unpaid time off."

Price: £40 for the weekend, or £27 for a day pass.

Band 7:

"My funded organisation is paying, or I am happy and able to support BiCon financially."

Price: £60 for the weekend, or £40 for a day pass.

Those prices in a table:

Band Weekend Day pass
1 £ 15 £ 10 lowest
2 £ 20 £ 15
3 £ 25 £ 18

"I have extra costs.."

If you have particularly high costs to attend BiCon, for example if you have an expensive journey, or are paying a lot to stay in London, just tick the box on the booking form and your band's price will be reduced by £5.

We recognise that people may have extra needs costing more than that, but it has been a principle over many BiCons running more complicated Access Funds that every adult attendee pays something. This reduces the price paid to BiCon to as little as a tenner for the weekend.

Coming in person? Just turn up – card payments preferred, but we also accept the right amount of cash
